Melatonin is a naturally occurring hormone that controls your body's sleep pattern and sleep–wake cycle. Melatonin may provide some short-term benefit for the management of insomnia when dosed at the correct time, and it is generally well tolerated. Melatonin was recently rescheduled to a Pharmacy Only Medicine when used for some purposes.

Melatonin supplied over the counter (pharmacy only medicine) is currently licenced for these uses:

Melatonin can also be supplied under standing orders after a consultation with a pharmacist. The criteria for supply are broader than when melatonin is supplied over the counter, and the pack size supplied is 30 tablets.

We are able to supply melatonin for patients who meet all of the below criteria:

• Over 18 years of age
• Mild to moderate primary insomnia with no underlying medical causes

Mild to moderate primary insomnia is difficulty getting to or falling asleep, difficulty staying asleep (poor quality sleep), waking up too early, tiredness and fatigue in the day. Is not caused by any underlying medical condition, psychiatric condition or lifestyle habits.

Melatonin for patients 18-55 is not available as a Pharmacy Medicine and requires a prescription.

• Under 18 years of age
• Pregnant or breastfeeding
• Received 13 weeks of pharmacist supply of melatonin in the past 12 months
• Have severe sleep problems

5. Join the video call. During this call we'll discuss the insomnia that this medicine will be treating, as well as your medical history, other medicines, and lifestyle factors
6. If the pharmacist approves that the use of this medicine will be safe and effective for you, they will send you a link to complete your checkout
7. Complete checkout and pay for the consultation and the medicine. Our dispensary team will receive your order and ship the product to you

We are supplying melatonin under standing orders from reCare. Under these standing orders we can only supply Vigisom 2mg tablets, 30 tablets per consultation. Melatonin is a prescription medicine. If you would like to repurchase melatonin later, you'll need to do another consultation with us.
