  • Have COVID-19 and symptoms or you are a household contact and have symptoms, and
  • Became sick within the last 5 days, and
  • Are eligible for the medicine
What to expect during a pharmacist consult
This is a conversation to make sure antiviral medicines are right for you. You will be asked about the following:
  • Your eligibility for this service
  • Your current health
  • Your health history
  • Any other medicines or treatments you are or have been taking, including rongoā rākau (plant remedies)
  • Whether you might be pregnant.
If you are eligible, the pharmacist will tell you what you need to know about taking antiviral medicines safely.

You must meet at least 3 of the below criteria to qualify via high risk medical conditions
  • Chronic lung or airway disease
  • Serious heart conditions such as congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, rheumatic heart disease, and congenital heart disease
  • Poorly controlled hypertension
  • Chronic neurological or neuromuscular disease
  • Diabetes
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • Severe liver disease such as cirrhosis
  • Severe haematological disorders
  • Severe mental illness such as schizophrenia, major depressive disorder, bipolar or schizoaffective disorder
  • Active cancer
  • Morbid obesity (BMI greater than 35)
  • Currently in contact with secondary and tertiary mental health and addiction services
  • Mental health and addiction issues who are currently homeless or without permanent housing.
  • Significant developmental disability
