Use
Prescription Only Medicine: Ajovy (fremanezumab)
Ajovy is used to help prevent migraine attacks in adults and reduce how often they occur.
How it works:
Ajovy contains fremanezumab, which targets a substance in the body called calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP). CGRP is involved in migraine attacks. By blocking CGRP, Ajovy can help reduce the number of migraine days.
How to use:
Ajovy is given as an injection under the skin (abdomen, thigh, or upper arm). Ajovy is given once a month, or every three months.
Warnings and precautions:
Do not use if you are allergic to fremanezumab or any of its ingredients. Allergic reactions such as rash, itching, or swelling may occur, and rarely severe reactions have been reported. Limited information is available in pregnancy, breastfeeding, or in people with certain serious heart conditions.
Ask your doctor if Ajovy is right for you. Additional consumer medicine information can be found on the Medsafe website: https://www.medsafe.govt.nz. Ajovy is a non-funded medication. Distributed in New Zealand by Teva Pharma New Zealand Ltd, Auckland.
