Use

Prescription only medicine: Semaglutide. for weight management in adults who are:

  • obese (BMI = 30), or
  • overweight (BMI = 27) with at least one weight-related condition such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol.

It should be used in combination with reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

How it works:
Wegovy contains semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist. It works by acting like a natural hormone that regulates appetite and food intake, helping reduce hunger and increase feelings of fullness.

How to use:
Wegovy is given once a week as a subcutaneous injection (under the skin of the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm).
The dose is increased gradually over 16 weeks to reach the full maintenance dose, helping to reduce gastrointestinal side effects.

Warnings & precautions:

  • Not for use in type 1 diabetes or for acute weight loss
  • Should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Use with caution if you have pancreatitis, diabetic retinopathy, or severe gastrointestinal disease
