Common Uses
Monitor Peak Expiratory Flow Rate (PEFR) to detect narrowing airways and with the Welcare Breatheasy Peak Flow Meter. Portable, easy to use, and suitable for both adults and children over 5 years old.
The intended purpose of the Welcare Breatheasy Peak Flow
Meter is to measure peak expiratory flow rate (PEFR) in adults and children aged 5 years and over.
It measures the maximum rate at which air is expelled from the lungs. The device may be used within the home and in a professional healthcare setting.
Ingredients
1. Slide pointer to the bottom of the scale (A).
2. Hold device horizontally in front of your mouth (B).
3. Sit up straight or stand upright. With mouth fully open, exhale out fully then inhale as deeply as possible.
4. Seal your lips firmly around the mouthpiece. Keep holding the meter horizonal (C).
5. Take care that the tongue or teeth do not obstruct the airflow. A “spitting” action or coughing will give false readings.
6. Blow out as HARD and as FAST as possible for 2 – 3 seconds until the lungs are completely empty.
7. Record the result (D).
8. Repeat steps 1 to 7 three times and record the highest reading.
9. Take action according to your personal respiratory management plan.
