General Information

APOHEALTH Famciclovir Once is for the treatment of recurrent outbreaks of cold sores (if you have previously had cold sores).

Warnings

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to famciclovir, penciclovir or any of the ingredients in this medicine. Precautions: Transmission risk; ophthalmic zoster; chicken pox; zoster encephalomyelitis; renal, severe
hepatic impairment; children; pregnancy; lactation. Adverse Effects: Headache; fatigue; GI upset; nasopharyngitis; angioedema; serious skin reactions; thrombocytopenia; cholestatic jaundice; abnormal LFTs.
Dosage: Single dose, 1500 mg; renal impairment - 750 mg (ClCr 40-59 mL/min), 500 mg (ClCr 20-39 mL/min), 250 mg (ClCr 10-20 mL/min, haemodialysis), admin immediately after dialysis.

Famciclovir 500 mg

Directions

Take as a single dose with or without food. Swallow tablets whole with a glass of water. Take all three tablets in this pack as a single dose as soon as possible when the first symptoms (eg. tingling, itching, or burning) or signs (eg. redness or swelling) of a cold sore appear. Do not delay treatment as the virus is most active at this time. The best result is achieved by taking Famciclovir early during a cold sore outbreak (eg. within one hour of onset of symptoms or signs of a cold sore). Adult: 1 Dose = 3 tablets.
